“Best Ink” contestant and Electric Cheetah Tattoo owner Alexis Kovacs has become something of a household name in the Lehigh Valley – especially if the heads of the house dig Black Sabbath and body art.

Kovacs was featured on the Oxygen Network’s tattooing reality show “Best Ink,” filmed last summer and aired this spring. “Best Ink” featured 10 contestants vying to answer the question, “Who is the Top Tattoo Artist?” The first place prize of $100,000 and a spread in Tattoo Magazine would be enough to put any artist on the map. Kovacs showed that she had more than chops in her profession, clinching a solid second-place standing after 8 episodes of grueling, time-sensitive challenges.

Since then, business at the establishment that she opened in June of 2011, Electric Cheetah Tattoos and Permanent Cosmetics, has been better than ever. Electric Cheetah, located at 707 North New St. in Bethlehem, currently has Alexis booked 5-6 months in advance. If you can stand the anticipation of working with the star, you’ll get Kovacs’ service and proven tattooing talent at the fair price of $150 per hour. Permanent cosmetic tattooing services, including (but not limited to) eye- and lip-lining, start at $150 and range up to $350.

Despite her busy schedule, Kovacs still manages to fit in attending and tattooing at conventions, such as the Skindustry Expo, which was held at the Holiday Inn in Allentown this March. She has also been a tat con award winner at conventions in various states across the country in 2008, 2010, and 2011.

It would seem she was blowing away the competition long before “Best Ink.”
